Ease and Simplicity are the qualities of a successful communicator: Nivedita Bhide

'Friday Samvad' program held at IIMC

New Delhi, 15 January: “To be a communicator like Swami Vivekananda, it is very important to have qualities like ease and simplicity. Owing to this quality, Swamiji was able to convey his point to the last man of the country,” said Ms. Nivedita Raghunath Bhide, Vice-President, Vivekananda Center, Kanyakumari. Ms. Bhide was speaking at the program 'Friday Samvad' organized by the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) on Friday. The Director General of IIMC Prof. Sanjay Dwivedi and Additional Director General Shri K. Satish Namboodiripad were also present at the program.

Expressing her views on the topic 'Swami Vivekananda: A communicator', Ms. Bhide said that Swami Vivekananda's words have become even more relevant in today’s time. Swamiji laid emphasis on building a new India by instilling confidence in Indian society.

Ms. Bhide said that communication is not an activity, but a process. If you want to see Swami Vivekananda as a communicator, then you have to see him in many ways and not just one. She said that from the books that Swamiji read, he not only learnt himself, but also gave a message of service and sacrifice to others.

Ms. Bhide said that education does not mean collecting or storing in the mind information which is of no use in life. Our education should be based on life building, person building and character building.

On this occasion, Prof. Sanjay Dwivedi said that in today's time when the disciplines of communication and management are in front of us, then we get to know how Swamiji worked to accomplish these disciplines throughout his life. In his actions, life, writings, speeches and overall presentation, he appears as an ideal manager and communicator.

The programme was conducted by Dr. Sangeeta Pranvendra and the vote of thanks was given by Shri K. Satish Namboodiripad.
