I coined the term Power of Peace when I was working at UNESCO/AW Khan

Recently a Facebook friend shared my post delivering Mother Teresa Memorial Lecture on Power of Peace at the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The response was overwhelming and unexpected.

I coined the term Power of Peace when I was working at UNESCO, which was established in 1945 to build peace in the world in the aftermath of world war two, based on my conviction that rapid advances in communication information technologies offer unprecedented opportunity to create mutual understanding across cultures, religions, ethnicity, geography and all other barriers, specially among the youth.

Friends you may agree with me that hatred, intolerance, mutual suspicion and greed is on the rise globally, resulting in local, regional and international conflicts and unprecedented violence.

Yet we know that PEACE can be a powerful tool to create a better world for our future generations. Each one of us can be an Ambassador for Peace. Please let me know if you are willing to be one.

I have enormous faith in the ability of youth to transform society. I am always willing and ready to provide moral support.

We must strive for peace even though it is difficult to accomplish.
